Spazio Damiani the new exhibition space for contemporary photography

Limited editions for connoisseurs, art books treated as works of art in themselves, and trendy magazines (such as Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari’s collaborative project Toiletpaper): for over ten years the publisher Damiani has been producing these kinds publications, but now added another facet to the company, a space open to the public for contemporary photography.

Damiani president Andrea Albertini, a former printer, founded the publishing house that serves an international clientele and is now a gallerist as well. In June 2015 Damiani inaugurated the exhibition space in a secluded corner on the ground floor of a building on via dello Scalo 3/2 with a collection of special editions by significant international photographers with whom he has published books. Also on view were new publications, including the highlight, an edition of LightningFields by Hiroshi Sugimoto, presented with a video in which the Japanese artist explains the method he uses to make these “electric” images.
