THE NEW MUSEION

opening: the New Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano

 On May 24th Museion will inaugurate its new building, designed by the Berlin studio of KSV Architects.The new Museion will be an “open” museum. The building’s cubic shape is charged with strong visual impact, and the architecture itself is a vehicle of dialog: the front and rear facades are largely transparent, and place the city’s historical center in dialog with some of its more recent areas, as well as with the meadows that flank the Talvera River. The new Museion building presents itself as an equally physical and symbolic links between the two parts of the city. At night these facades become highly suggestive surfaces for the projection of newly commissioned artworks. The building’s interior spaces are highly fluid: the various levels of museum activity — exhibition. Peripheral vision and collective body, (May 24th-September 21st) an exceptional group show for the opening that will discusses the question of the collective bodies in contemporary visual art considering the tight relationship with architecture and performance (dance in particular).
